J.H. Shellard Rutherford was a visionary. In 1923, he opened a small retail hardware store in the town of Galt, Ontario, Canada and became one of the first Canadian entrepreneurs to sell electrical products to the public. Rutherford’s son, Jack, took over the business in the early 1960s and changed the direction of the company, when he opened a small architectural hardware distribution company called Rutherford Marketing Services.
Known today as RCI, Rutherford Controls Int'l Corp. has forged strategic global alliances and provides the architectural hardware, locksmith, and security markets with the best in electric locks, door hardware and access control products.
