Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc. (LMI) was originally formed in 1956 as Thermodynamics, Inc., a manufacturer of heat exchangers. In 1960, it became VacuMaid, Inc. reflecting its commitment to the manufacture of central vacuum systems. Throughout the 1960s and 70s VacuMaid obtained several patents and helped to pioneer the central vacuum industry. During this time products were sold under the trade names VacuMaid and Astro Vac.
Today, LMI also manufactures a range of intercom systems under the name AudioTech and is the North American distribution center for Valet System One intercoms. Operating from its 150,000 square foot main facility in Ponca City, LMI manufactures and sells products under the trade names AstroVac®, VacuMaid®, SilentPartner®, VacZoom®, Dust Mate®, SuperGroom®, AudioTech®, and Valet®.
