J.H. Shellard Rutherford was a visionary. In 1923, he opened a small retail hardware store in the town of Galt, Ontario, Canada and became one of the first Canadian entrepreneurs to sell electrical products to the public. Rutherford’s son, Jack, took over the business in the early 1960s and changed the direction of the company, when he opened a small architectural hardware distribution company called Rutherford Marketing Services. Known today as RCI, Rutherford Controls Int'l Corp. has forged strategic global alliances and provides the architectural hardware, locksmith, and security markets with the best in electric locks, door hardware and access control products. The focus at RCI is on customer service, technical expertise and providing innovative electric locking hardware to the industry. RCI consistently strives to stay ahead of the pace of technological development and market demand. Ease of use and installation, extensive variety, as well as the highest level of quality are all standard features in RCI's product offering. From their humble beginnings in 1923 to their current status as a highly respected supplier of reliable electric locking hardware, RCI's experience and innovation spans the decades and defines the organization well into the next millennium, ushering in a new era of heightened performance.
